Job Summary:

The Program Manager is responsible for all aspects of assigned programs throughout the program lifecycle, from concept to final implementation using effective program/project management practices.  This includes leading multi-disciplinary teams which include all levels of personnel, vendors, and clients in the creation and deployment of a Novant Health enterprise program strategic solution associated with the investment in business growth, enterprise standardization, transitions resulting from mergers and acquisitions.   The  Manager will also have ownership of directing, facilitating and managing the program change control process which includes scope change, budget change, schedule change, and overall financial performance of program. The program manager will be responsible for driving change from the business perspective and therefore impact Novant’s organizational culture.  They must possess and demonstrate effective application of risk assessment, leadership, relationship building, decision making, execution, and accountability.

The Program Manager will also promote Novant Health regionally and nationally by improving and assisting with the disease management studies of chronic diseases, preventive services, and provider recognition.  Partnerships will be developed with employed and affiliated physician champions caring for patients of Novant Health.  This position will also provides leadership in achieving ongoing corporate objectives including quality, financial vitality, employee and customer satisfaction that make Novant Health experience remarkable.


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in healthcare related field preferred.
  • Experience: Three years of successful supervisory/management experience or three years experience in working closely with physicians and other clinicans.  Education or training in continuous improvement theory, methods and tools required. Experience in managing multiple teams simultaneously is preferred.
  • Additional skills required: Analyze and define program scope, objectives and outcome metrics.  Design, develop, and manage interdependent work plans which incorporate schedules, program estimates, human capital and status reporting. Manages program change control process to include scope change, budget change, schedule change and overall financial performance of program. Facilitate and lead multi-disciplinary teams of personnel, vendors, and clients in the test and deployment of assigned programs while monitoring, tracking and reporting program progress against measurable outcomes. Ensures adherence to quality standards using the EPMO’s program principles, tools, governance and life cycle methodology. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems. Manage risks identified in all program charters.  Coordinate risk identification, risk assessment, risk mitigation planning and stakeholder awareness. Establishes and organizes priorities, demonstrates initiative, and executes closure within aggressive timelines. Utilizes communication skills  - demonstrates the ability to effectively communication with senior leadership (Business Sponsors, Steering Committee memberships) and all levels of team members. Supports team members by coaching and mentoring them to be more productive and understand project work.
